Fishing Fever.
« on: February 23, 2010, 10:44:28 AM »
This winter is driving me crazy and I’m getting the fever bad.
Or maybe it’s actually just cabin fever.

It's overcast, gloomy and freaking cold here, with a couple weeks of snow melting needed.

Over cast and rainy today, but it was a nice weekend.
Threw some minnows at them but didn’t get anything that could take a hook.  Water is still pretty cold, fish are moving slow.
This rain should help warm the water up though, and as soon as it does they’ll be in pre-spawn feed mode.

Headed out to Wilson Co. Lake after work.  Gear Head Wrenching buddy already has my boat out scouting the fishing spots.
Plan on throwing a buffet at them, worms, livers, minnows, even some goldfish if the bait store has them.  Just to see if anything is biting yet.

did you have any luck?

I was watching PBS the other day and a bunch of people in were fishing with a bow. Looked like alot of fun.

I think I'll try to get some river trout next week after the NCAA basketball championship.

Didn't even go, everyone else sissied out on my.
It's been windy and stormy all weekend so I don't necessarily blame them.

I was even talking to a bunch of guys about fishing before church. The associate pastor is crazy about fishing.

I was trying my hardest to find out where the best fishing holes are.
figure they wont lie to me about it there. :)

Fishing is like golf, the more you do, the more you want to do.

caught some nice 'gills out of our pond yesterday evening.  That is the only species that was biting though.  I saw some bass in the north (sunny) end but couldn't get them to hit anything.  Crappie didn't hit either.  this week should get things hopping around here.

Crappie haven’t started moving around here yet either.  That’s why I wasn’t too upset about not fishing last Friday, it’s still early in the season.

We have bluegills, shellcrackers (redear sunfish), hybrid bluegills, white crappie, bass, and channel cats.  Teh bass are gettin pretty big.   There are some 4 and 5 pounders in there.  The cats are huge.  Some are pushin 7 or 8 lbs.  My pond has big trees on the south and west side though, so it takes forever for it to warm up to where the fish get active.  Also, I need more bass cuz the gills are a dime a dozen and i'd like there to be more keeper gills.
