Hockey, namely the Chicago Blackhawks.
« on: June 07, 2010, 09:11:45 AM »
Ok, I will admit it, I used to deplore Hockey, hated it. It was all brought on by an incident back in 72, (we were in R.I.), when a couple visited us and the husband had to watch a hockey game on MY TV. I wanted to watch the NFL, but was a pissed off gracious host.

Went to a Blackhawks game in 97 (free tickets) , and had never watched another game since. But have watched almost all of the playoff games. HD tv makes the sport watchable!

Anyone else into this NHL thing? I doubt I could watch a regular season game. Truly just a bandwagoner right now.

When i lived in St Louis in the mid 90's i was into the Blues and the NHL.   Havent really payed much attention to it in the last 10 years or so.

Its a fun sport to watch though.

I watched hockey on TV for a year, but they were a casualty of me watching a lot less TV.  Much like the NFL.

They have cleaned up the fighting a lot it would seem, do you agree?

They really do hit hard on those "checks." I have no idea what an "offsides" is yet, but I understand a "face off" and "power play." :big grin:

Yeah, but it always looked a lot like pro wrestling. At least hockey is more exciting to watch than soccer. I tried to watch the U.S. match the other night and was out like a light in 10 minutes. Woke up, it was over.

This......I just cant get into Soccer.  Its just too defensive of a game for me.  Its one of those games thats fun to play but boring to watch.  I used to play as a kid and loved it.

soccer isnt violent enough for me. I am really shocked that rugby hasnt caught on. its the best of soccer and football with less padding then football.

We went to Harry Carrey's last night after golf, and they were walking the Stanley Cup around to the tables, with quite a security force.

They allowed each of us to touch it.

Wheew, I will never wash my hand again, if I could remember which one I touched it with.

That trophy is pretty unique, though.  It's the only one I know of that last year's champ has to give up.

It is kind of cool, you can tell just looking at it that it is worn.
